Abstract

Die Waldarbeit ist eine körperlich anspruchsvolle Tätigkeit und geht mit intensiven Belastungen des Stütz- und Bewegungsapparates einher. Die Berufsgruppe der Forstwirte ist somit nicht vom, in der heutigen Gesellschaft weit verbreiteten, Risikofaktor Bewegungsmangel betroffen. Vielmehr sind stereotype Bewegungsmuster verantwortlich für die Ausprägung muskulärer Dysbalancen, die wiederum ätiologisch für Rückenbeschwerden sein können. Im Rahmen der vorliegenden Studie wurden zunächst die Bedingungen und Arbeitstätigkeiten bei der Waldarbeit analysiert. Auf der Grundlage eines biopsychosozialen Ansatzes wurde darauf aufbauend eine bewegungsbezogene Intervention für Forstwirte konzipiert. Die Zielsetzung bestand darin, die berufsbedingten Belastungen im Sinne eines sportlichen Ausgleichstrainings zu reduzieren sowie spezifi sche Gesundheitsressourcen zu stärken. Die Intervention wurde im betrieblichen Kontext für einen Zeitraum von drei Jahren implementiert. Die Evaluation erfolgte anhand ausgewählter motorischer und psychosozialer Parameter sowie einer Analyse des Krankenstandes. Die Ergebnisse verdeutlichen die Notwendigkeit einer bewegungsbezogenen Intervention bei einem Berufsbild mit vergleichsweise hoher körperlicher Belastung und es wurde aufgezeigt, wie eine solche Maßnahme im betrieblichen Kontext langfristig implementiert werden kann.

Abstract

Gottfried Dietrich Wilhelm Berthold (1854-1937) was one the foremost botanists and phycologists at the end of the 19th century. Born and educated in Westphalia, he enrolled at the Georgia Augusta to study plant sciences and focused on algae. After research stays at the Zoological Station at Naples he succeeded his mentor Johannes Reinke on his chair at the Institute of Plant Physiology at the Georgia Augusta Göttingen until 1923. In this study we focus on the biography of Berthold, his private and scientific life, interaction with J. Reinke and other topics related to the life of Berthold. In a second part we highlight his research on algae at the Gulf of Naples. We conclude with an evaluation of his scientific work in the light of the different phases in his life including a full bibliography of his scientific publications. Our study contributes to history of science at the Georgia Augusta.

Abstract

In 2020, the Institute for Educational Science celebrated its 100-year anniversary – in 1920 Herman Nohl became the first professor for Pedagogy and subsequently founded the Pedagogic Seminar in July 1920. In celebration of this jubilee, the contributions to this edition bring forward various aspects of the history of educational science at the University of Göttingen. The book includes two lectures, which were given during the ceremonial act on 29 January 2020 and discuss the development of pedagogy as a discipline before its institutionalization. Additionally, it sheds light onto names, places and programs, which played an important part in the Institute’s history. Finally, the research methods are discussed from a reflexive point of view, including questions regarding data collection and the presentation of results.

Abstract

"The book discusses various challenges and solutions related to the coordination of health and welfare services. Coordination is central to creating integrated services for users with complex needs. In order to understand the challenges and opportunities associated with creating such services, one needs knowledge related to organizations and the organizational context. The book's chapters takes on an organizational perspective where patterns and explanations are sought in formal and informal structures, processes and culture. The users’ need for services often cross established boundaries, both organizational and professional. The authors highlight the possibilities and limitations of some selected solutions that will help to cut across or break down such boundaries. Examples of such solutions are user involvement, interdisciplinary collaboration, team organizations, coordinators, standardization and patient pathways, digitization and decision-making tools for employees who work in the services. One chapter summarizes three different theoretical research approaches for analyzing coordination and collaboration. The target group is researchers, university and college employees and students of the health and welfare sector. Abstract

Despite the potential of digital technologies to contribute to the enhancement of access to quality education and the development of lifelong learning competencies, many knowledge gaps remain in how, for whom and in what contexts digital technologies actually do contribute to improved, equitable educational outcomes. More research is needed that creates and tests ‘proven models’ of digital learning in Asian schools and deepens our understanding of the conditions that are necessary and sufficient for success. And this research needs to build on the research that has already been done in the region and worldwide. The primary aim of this book section is to provide snapshots of the current state in research and to identify and explain the research gaps and future directions of digital learning for development in Asian schools.

Abstract

Education – that is, the development of knowledge, skills, and values – is an important means by which to empower individuals in a society. As both a means towards and an outcome of gaining the capabilities necessary to participate in and contribute to society, education is an essential enabler in many social aspects, such as economic growth, poverty reduction, public health, and sustainable development, especially in today’s knowledge society. At the same time, however, education can still be a social institution that reflects and reproduces the social, cultural, and economic disadvantages that prevail in the rest of society (Bourdieu & Passeron, 1990). For example, students who are discriminated against socio-culturally or who are economically poor are more likely to receive an education that is characterized by inadequate infrastructure, few qualified teachers and encouraging peers, and outmoded pedagogical practices, which often results in a lower quality of life.

Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of ITS-related research undertaken in Asian developing countries. The chapter begins with a brief overview of the development and nature of ITSs. It then outlines the methods for selecting and analyzing the literature used for the study, describing the research foci of these studies and highlighting the findings in relation to the effectiveness of ITSs developed or deployed in these countries. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the limitations of current ITS research and identifies potential areas for further study.

Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to conduct a systematic literature review of research studies on game-based learning and gamification conducted in Asian K–12 schools. Through this review, we intend to present a comprehensive analysis of what the body of accumulated research informs us of the impact of games in Asian educational settings and to draw implications for future research directions.
