Abstract

Die von der Mehrzahl der Unternehmen angestrebte Profilierung im Wettbewerbsumfeld scheint gegenwärtig kaum noch ausschließlich im Bereich der jeweils angestammten Primärleistung möglich zu sein. Daher versuchen viele Unternehmen, eine solche Profilierung durch das Angebot von zusätzlichen Dienstleistungen, die im Rahmen dieser Arbeit unter dem Begriff Value-Added Services zusammengefaßt werden, zu erreichen. Hinsichtlich dieser Aktivitäten ist jedoch vielfach eine als intuitiv zu bezeichnende Vorgehensweise zu konstatieren. Dabei kann eine zentrale Fragestellung dieser Unternehmen identifiziert werden: «Welche Value-Added Services welchen Konsumentengruppen zu welchen Konditionen angeboten werden?» Diese Arbeit verfolgt die Zielsetzung, eine sinnvolle methodische Vorgehensweise zur Lösung der Fragestellung aufzuzeigen. Zu diesem Zweck wird die Eignung verschiedener Verfahren am Beispiel der Automobilbranche sowie des Flugdienstleistungsbereiches überprüft, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf umfangreiche Conjoint-Analysen gelegt wird. Darüber hinaus werden marketingpolitische Implikationen abgeleitet.

Abstract

This work has arisen out of the strong demand for a superior power-added efficiency (PAE) of AlGaN/GaN high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) high-power amplifiers (HPAs) that are part of any advanced wireless multifunctional RF-system with limited prime energy. Different concepts and approaches on device and design level for PAE improvements are analyzed, e.g. structural and layout changes of the GaN transistor and advanced circuit design techniques for PAE improvements of GaN HEMT HPAs.

Abstract

This book collected studies focused on the management of tourist destinations. Destinations are complex and adaptive systems, where the different elements that make them up have to be oriented towards achieving a common objective that improves the competitiveness of the destination. Five main lines of research on tourist destinations can be established: 1) the management, planning, and marketing of destinations, with special attention to the tourism supply chain, communication, and integral management; 2) the sustainability of resources and capabilities; 3) the renewal of destinations in order to update their offer and main resources to maintain competitiveness; 4) online reputation and communication through social media in order to create and enhance a strong brand image and customer loyalty; and 5) the application of new technologies in order to develop smart destinations. The book is made up of five research studies that focus on analyzing the transition towards a more circular tourist activity in hotels, image as a competitive factor of destinations, the value of cultural creativity, the coherence of online reputation, and the relationship between hotel prices and online reputation in different tourist destinations.

Abstract

As computer and space technologies have been developed, geoscience information systems (GIS) and remote sensing (RS) technologies, which deal with the geospatial information, have been rapidly maturing. Moreover, over the last few decades, machine learning techniques including artificial neural network (ANN), deep learning, decision tree, and support vector machine (SVM) have been successfully applied to geospatial science and engineering research fields. The machine learning techniques have been widely applied to GIS and RS research fields and have recently produced valuable results in the areas of geoscience, environment, natural hazards, and natural resources. Abstract

While group IV or III-V based device technologies have reached their technical limitations (e.g., limited detection wavelength range or low power handling capability), wide bandgap (WBG) semiconductors which have band-gaps greater than 3 eV have gained significant attention in recent years as a key semiconductor material in high-performance optoelectronic and electronic devices. These WBG semiconductors have two definitive advantages for optoelectronic and electronic applications due to their large bandgap energy. WBG energy is suitable to absorb or emit ultraviolet (UV) light in optoelectronic devices. It also provides a higher electric breakdown field, which allows electronic devices to possess higher breakdown voltages. This Special Issue seeks research papers, short communications, and review articles that focus on novel synthesis, processing, designs, fabrication, and modeling of various WBG semiconductor power electronics and optoelectronic devices.

Abstract

This Special Issue addresses the general problem of a proper match between the demands of energy users and the units for energy conversion and storage, by means of proper design and operation of the overall energy system configuration. The focus is either on systems including single plants or groups of plants, connected or not to one or more energy distribution networks. In both cases, the optimum design and operation involve decisions about thermodynamic processes, about the type, number, design parameters of components/plants, and storage capacities, and about mutual interconnections and the interconnections with the distribution grids. The problem is absolutely general, encompassing design and operation of energy systems for single houses, groups of houses, industries, industrial districts, municipal areas, regions and countries. The presented papers show that similar approaches can be used in different applications, although a general standard has not been achieved yet.
