Despite recent dramatic advances in computer security regarding the proliferation of services and applications, security threats are still major impediments in the deployment of these services. Paying serious attention to these issues, Security in Distributed, Grid, Mobile, and Pervasive Computing focuses on the increasing demand to guarantee privacy, integrity, and availability of resources in networks and distributed systems. A rich and useful presentation of strategies for security issues, the book covers each computing area in separate sections. It first reviews security issues and challenges in content distribution networks, describes key agreement protocols based on the Diffie-Hellman key exchange and key management protocols for complex distributed systems like the Internet, and discusses securing design patterns for distributed systems. The next section focuses on security in mobile computing and wireless networks, covering wireless authentication methods, secure data aggregation, and anonymous routing protocol. After a section on grid computing security, the book presents an overview of security solutions for pervasive healthcare systems and surveys wireless sensor network security. With more and more vital information stored on computers, security professionals need to know how to combat threats and complications. Offering strategies to tackle these issues, this book provides essential security information for researchers, practitioners, educators, and graduate students in the field.

The mobile Internet – understood as the usage of Internet services and protocols over wireless networks – is a technology which can be of beneficial use in companies. So far and in contrast to the use by private customers this area is still under development, which can be explained through the special conditions of IT-implementation in enterprises. Stefan Christmann therefore analyzes usage potentials and challenges of this technology and describes technical solutions to enable the application of mobile Internet in enterprises and to make it more economical. In the area of application development, the book focuses on an operating system independent programming with web technologies, which eliminates the need for multiple development processes.

Mobile Commerce has gained increasing acceptance amongst various sections of the society in previous years. The reasons for its growth can be traced back to technological and demographical developments that have influenced many aspects of the socio-cultural behaviour in today's world. The need (and/or wish) for mobility seems to be the driving force behind Mobile Commerce. The launch of UMTS technology has provided Mobile Commerce with the necessary verve.Mobile Banking presents an opportunity for banks to retain their existing, technology-savvy customer base by offering value-added, innovative services and to attract new customers from corresponding sections of the society. The customer survey provides evidence that such sections in the meanwhile include the affluent and financially relevant groups of the society in Germany. The time seems to be ripe to convert this non-negligible customer interest into business-driving customer demand. A proactive attitude on the part of the banks seems to be therefore recommendable. Many banks in Germany have come to regard Mobile Banking as a necessary tool for thwarting negative differentiation vis-à-vis rivals and to foster/retain an innovative image. This self-reinforcing dynamism is expected to gain currency in near-future so that Mobile Banking services could soon advance to a standard product - on the lines of Online Banking - offered by more or less each and every bank.

Mobile learning has become one of the more influential aspects of the field of educational technology, given the ubiquity of modern mobile devices and proliferation of educational applications or ‘apps’. Within this volume, there are a range of studies and reviews which cover a breadth of current topics in the field, namely user motivations for using mobile learning, issues in evaluation, as well as domain-specific considerations (e.g., use within language learning or audio-based applications). Together, these studies represent the synthesis of a range of methods, approaches, and applications that highlight benefits and areas of future growth of mobile technologies and how they can be useful and most effective in education.

The study at hands presents a method for the calculation and evaluation of continuously variable tractor transmissions with multiple interfaces and a various mix out of mechanic, electric and hydraulic technologies. The study concentrates on the correct efficiency calculation of mechanical components as well as the resulting costs of production. The relation of effort and use for each exemplary analyzed concept is shown and explained.

In the present work a systematic approach is presented. With this approach it is possible to take concerted simplifications in building models of power train systems of mobile machines. The adopted systematic simplifications are aimed essentially of reducing the order of the system. The basis for this is the introduction of hydraulic replacement elements. Their mathematical structure is based on reduced-dynamic, stationary and event-oriented considerations.
