Abstract

This work deals with the analysis of the cleaning mechanism of polymer woven filter media. It reports parametric studies for the cleaning of filter media using continuous and pulsed flows for different kinds of impurities and filter geometries. There the focus is on the development of dimensionless operation numbers, which can be used to predict the cleaning result of the respective filter medium.

Abstract

The aim of the present work is the mathematical modeling of solid bowl centrifuges for the dynamic simulation of separation processes in real time. The developed compartment model couples the residence time behavior with the material properties and thus allows a time and space-resolved simulation for solid bowl centrifuges. The profound insights into the separation process open up not only a better design, but also new fields of application such as the dynamic flowchart simulation.

Abstract

While the spectral information contained in hyperspectral images is rich, the spatial resolution of such images is in many cases very low. Many pixel spectra are mixtures of pure materials’ spectra and therefore need to be decomposed into their constituents. This work investigates new decomposition methods taking into account spectral, spatial and global 3D adjacency information. This allows for faster and more accurate decomposition results.

Abstract

This study has developed a complete procedure for the measurement of oxygen isotopes in arsenic oxyanions in natural waters by using different adsorbents. The experimental results of kinetic exchange of oxygen between AsO43- and water show that the entire exchange procedure happens in a very short time at different pH conditions and temperatures.

Abstract

De 1910 à 1914, Barrès mène campagne pour la défense des églises menacées de ruine. La loi de Séparation de 1905 a des lacunes, le Pape refuse la constitution d’associations cultuelles, le patrimoine religieux français est en péril. L’antidreyfusard du tournant du siècle dépasse ici ses engagements antérieurs et le seul combat clérical. Avec des hommes politiques de différents bords, des artistes, des critiques et des historiens de l’art, il œuvre à une prise de conscience de l’opinion publique et à un amendement de la loi. N’excluant aucun des divers héritages qui ont façonné l’histoire de la France, Barrès considère les édifices religieux d’abord comme un « trésor national » qui constitue « la belle chaîne de l’art français » et doit, à ce titre, être préservé. C’est pourquoi il propose le classement global de toutes les églises - y compris les modestes églises de village - bâties avant 1800. Au musée, institution qui, selon lui, déracine, il préfère le patrimoine agissant in situ, qui incarne de manière concrète et immédiate la continuité historique de la nation et permet une adhésion de sentiment. La grande pitié des églises de France, texte hybride et original - fait de débats parlementaires, dialogues, lettres ouvertes, articles, méditations métaphysiques -, est le journal d’une campagne réussie qui a contribué au vote de la loi de 1913 sur les monuments historiques. Œuvre souvent citée et pourtant mal connue, elle marque la naissance d’une conscience patrimoniale nouvelle.

Abstract

Driven by market signals, energy consumers are motivated to adapt their grid load. Due to their cryogenic storage capacity, air separation units can efficiently be used for load shifting. Such an operation leads to new challenges for plant operation and control. The developed pressure-driven dynamic column model is used to investigate load-flexible operation.
