Abstract

Young pre-teens attending junior high schools are going through a very delicate period: they are not just engaged in a new and more complex school career but they are also engaged in their daily tasks of training and negotiating their identities and their roles in the different peer groups. This complex scenario is expanded by their first experiences, far from the eyes of adults, with technologies: tools that add, on the relational universe just described, an existential dimension that opens up new forms of communication mediated by digital contexts. Do technologies have an influence between on the relational dynamics that take place between students and their peers and between students and teachers? Which kind of influence? What dynamics are involved? What kind of technology is at stake? Is there a relationship of influence between the relationships mediated by the digital contexts and the social climate of a learning environment? What kind of influence? How much do students rely on digital-enriched relationships to satisfy their relationship needs? What perception do students and teachers have of relational dynamics mediated by digital contexts? And what role do they give to the school in this problem? To try to provide an answer to these questions, the volume presents a phenomenology of the witness of 21 teachers and 365 boys and girls belonging to two Italian and two French schools.&#xD;

Abstract

The authoritative contributions of scholars from diverse disciplinary fields, allow readers to retrace the theme of inclusion from different theoretical research perspectives, reconstructing an interesting corollary of reflections and operational paths ranging from special pedagogy, general pedagogy, psychology, social robotics, virtual reality, economics, law, literature, philosophy, art, etc. It is due of this approach that the text is particularly pertinent to teachers, educators and pedagogues in active service and in training, not least because of the range of workshop proposals and transferable experiences in school contexts and in day and residential centres.&#xD;

Abstract

Conceived on the occasion of the first edition of "Unimc for Inclusion", an initiative promoted by the University of Macerata, the volume intends to propose, in a single collective work, theoretical coordinates and operational trajectories applicable in plural contexts, including training whether they are educational, aggregated or residential. The paradigm of inclusion is therefore investigated on the basis of its declinations, as well as multiple perspectives of research, through a variety of thematic insights. Implementation challenges, laboratory proposals and design hypotheses that come to life in the text, offering the reader practical ideas for reflection and experimentation with an inclusive character. For these reasons, this book is particularly recommended to pedagogues, teachers and educators, both in training and in service, because in their profession they are constantly called upon to engage in "inclusion tests".&#xD;

The 100th anniversary of John Dewey's "Democracy and Education" was a valuable opportunity for the doctoral candidates of Pedagogical Sciences of the University of Bologna to observe some conceptual issues that emerge in the famous Deweyan work. They have identifyed four core themes, that were the subject of a seminar held in December 2016 at the Department of Educational Sciences "Giovanni Maria Bertin" and constitute the articulation of the four sections of this volume.&#xD;

Abstract

The second edition of the Seminar "INVALSI data: a tool for research" was held in Florence on 17 and 18 November 2017. The event was an opportunity to meeting and networking among researchers, teachers, school managers and, more generally, all those who have an interest in educational evaluation and the data made available by INVALSI every year. The INVALSI data, in fact, although not claiming to be exhaustive about the complexity of the school world, are useful to understand some educational phenomena more effectively. The INVALSI Statistical Service has decided to collect the numerous research contributions presented on this occasion in specific thematic sessions. This volume contains 13 chapters which, starting from different points of view and using heterogeneous methodological approaches, provide insights into how INVALSI data can contribute to deepening the interpretation of the school world, in its different aspects. The reading path is rich and complex and can serve as a landmark for those wishing to explore some issues concerning the Italian system.&#xD;

Abstract

The volume aims to promote the scientific value of the data collected by the international OECD and IEA surveys carried out in 2015. In particular, as regards the IEA TIMSS and TIMSS Advanced surveys, the contributions focus on the incidence of behaviours and learning contexts of students on the development of skills in mathematics. Regarding the OECD PISA survey, the topics discussed are the relationship between cultural, cognitive and motivational factors and the relative empirical evidence, as well as the online media exposure of the survey. Finally, a last thematic section concerns the relationship between context variables and competences related to Financial Literacy.&#xD;

Se si domanda a una persona di buon senso «a chi appartiene la scienza?», la risposta più probabile è: «a tutti!».Dietro il velo di una risposta istintiva e (apparentemente) superficiale si nasconde la storia dell’eterno conflitto tra apertura e chiusura della conoscenza, tra pubblicità e segretezza. Un conflitto che assume connotati peculiari nell’era digitale.All’alba dell’era di Internet una parte della comunità scientifica ha coltivato la speranza di potenziare il discorso scientifico e l’uso pubblico della ragione creando una Rete democratica delle menti. Questa speranza oggi appare minacciata dalla mercificazione della conoscenza e dalle forze che mirano ad accentrare il potere decisionale nelle mani di pochi. La scienza sembra sempre più in crisi.L’apertura può curare la crisi in cui versa la scienza? Cosa significa “scienza aperta”? Le risposte contenute nel libro sono parziali e attengono al dilemma evocato nel suo titolo: diritto d’autore o proprietà intellettuale?

Abstract

"Economic and sociological research has long shown that the widespread presence of criminal organizations in the territory is a factor that contrasts economic and social development. This is just one aspect of the complex relationship that exists between local economic dynamics and the illegal behavior of social actors. The relationship between social norms and legal norms, the quality and quantity of social capital, the bonds of trust between the actors and the legitimization of the state, the local power systems, the certainty of the sanctions, are other aspects that certainly contribute to create the conditions that favor illegal responses to the crisis.&#xD;The book seeks to highlight how legality and illegality present facets and interdependencies that can't simply be traced back to the moral categories of good and evil, but need to be analyzed in a multifactorial perspective."

Abstract

The volume contains a collection of contributions presented at the conference “INVALSI data: a tool for research”, held in Rome the 20th September 2016. On this occasion, scholars from different professional contexts (school, university, research) and selected through a call for papers presented their scientific works, using INVALSI data. The book is divided into two parts: the first part devoted to the use of INVALSI data in didactic research, the second focused on INVALSI data as a tool for supporting policy and decision makers. The eighteen chapters cover in-depth analyses that, starting from different angles and using several methodologies, offer the reader a rich and structured view of the different possible uses of the data that INVALSI gather each year.
