Abstract

This study aimed to put constraints on regional and/or global environmental changes, which took place during the Frasnian-Famennian transition by using a geochemical multiproxy approach. The investigation of several key European Frasnian-Famennian boundary sections brings new geochemical evidences which emphasize the role of tectono-magmatic processes, like volcanism, hydrothermalism and major tectonic movements in the development of the particularities of the Kellwasser Horizons deposited close to the southern shores of Laurussia and the northern parts of Gondwana.

Abstract

Nowadays using SRAM based FPGAs in space missions is increasingly considered due to their flexibility and reprogrammability. A challenge is the devices sensitivity to radiation effects that increased with modern architectures due to smaller CMOS structures. This work proposes fault tolerance methodologies, that are based on a fine grain view to modern reconfigurable architectures. The focus is on SEU mitigation challenges in SRAM based FPGAs which can result in crucial situations.

Abstract

Interactions between people are ubiquitous. When people make phone calls, transfer money, connect on social network sites, or visit each other, these actions can be collected as dyadic, directed, relational events. Each of those events can be understood as driven by multiple individual decisions that at least partially involve rational considerations. This book aims at developing models that allow to understand individual event decisions in the context of large social networks.

Abstract

This dissertation thesis presents an approach enabling the modelling and quality-of-service prediction of event-based systems at the architecture-level. Applying a two-step model refinement transformation, the approach integrates platform-specific performance influences of the underlying middleware while enabling the use of different existing analytical and simulation-based prediction techniques.

Abstract

How can the Web be made situation-aware? Event processing is a suitable technology for gaining the necessary real-time results. The Web, however, has many users and many application domains. Thus, we developed multi-schema friendly data models allowing the re-use and mix from diverse users and application domains. Furthermore, our methods describe protocols to exchange events on the Web, algorithms to execute the language and to calculate access rights.

Abstract

Compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies has become increasingly critical to business success. This book presents an approach for efficiently checking the compliance of business processes based on event data recorded in a standardized event log format. In addition to a reference implementation of the approach an extension for a business process management tool as well as a web-based dashboard are developed.
