About

Consistent with our mission to share research, analytical tools, and technical expertise on critical social and scientific issues, RTI Press publishes peer-reviewed, open-access briefs, reports, and books.
The elements of our open access policy outlined here apply to all RTI Press publications, with the exception of co-published books.
Ensuring publications are accessible and discoverable. RTI Press publications are available for free PDF download from https://www.rti.org/rti-press.
Providing immediate access. RTI Press publications are immediately available for download and sharing upon publication without an embargo period.
Facilitating open access through Creative Commons licensing. To clarify terms of use and encourage sharing, digital versions of RTI Press publications are made available under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercialNoDerivatives 4.0 International license. The CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license grants permission to share RTI Press publications in their final form for non-commercial purposes with appropriate attribution.
Encouraging sharing and reuse. RTI Press supports reposting and sharing of our publications to facilitate further scientific discovery, learning, archiving, and to meet the requirements of funders. The Press actively deposits publications in relevant indexes (such as PubMed and ERIC) and facilitates discovery through appropriate tagging of metadata. We also encourage authors to share and reuse their contributions to the RTI Press.
[The RTI Press Open Access Policy is posted as a PDF on our website: https://www.rti.org/sites/default/files/related-content-files/policy_openaccess.pdf]

Peer review info

RTI Press conducts single-blind peer-review on most submitted manuscripts (other than conference proceedings). Our peer reviewers come from both inside and outside RTI. The majority of reviewed manuscripts have at least one external reviewer. For RTI reviewers, we avoid conflicts of interest by excluding reviewers from the same division or that work on the same project as RTI authors. Because RTI has over 4000 employees, we are able to preserve reviewer independence by identifying internal peer reviewers with relevant expertise but without conflicts of interest.

License info

All books published by RTI Press (aside from co-published books) are made available under a CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 license. The license is posted on the abstract page for each book (see example above) so that readers are aware of the license at the time of download. Please note that we are in the process of uploading updated PDF files with a CC BY-NC-ND license.
A link to our OA policy is posted on our landing page (under Open Access: Learn more. https://www.rti.org/rti-press) and with our guidance for authors (under Resources for Authors. https://www.rti.org/information-authors-submitting-rti-press#submit).
